Today we held he fish off for the Saltwater Teen
Angler of the Year. We meet at Jaycee Park in Ft. Pierce this
morning at 6:30am. As the Teen's were drawing names to see
what boat they would be fishing out of Teen Mentor -- Bob Wittbold came
racing into the docks. When everyone got over to his boat they saw
he had caught a 32 inch -- 13lb. 11oz snook. With the snook in the
boat it gave all of us hope that the fishing would be better than it had
been this past week. With this in mind I had already listed 11
different species on the fish list with the hope that the Teen's would
catch a lot of different species and rack up the points.
After checking with several of the volunteers during
the morning and getting calls from a couple of the Dad's I knew it was
going to be a long morning. Helen Kinchen's dad -- Robert called
to say that Helen had caught a mangrove snapper and 2 pompano but
pompano was not on the fish list. He called again to say that
Helen had caught a 24 inch and a 16 inch trout.
Helen's big
trout weighed 3lb. 15oz.
Shane Surrency's Dad called to check the
boundaries. I called Capt. Joe to see what Kalib
Guttler had caught. After they found some nice size
greenie's they went to the Rock Pile and Kalib caught a 20 inch grouper
-- to short to keep and got broken off by two more. He also caught
a short snook, a mutton snapper and a big jack but nothing to bring in
for the weigh in. I called Suzanne B. to see if David Brasher had
caught anything and at the time we talked he had not but, he did bring a
spanish mackerel to weigh in. Dillon Roberts-Louria was on Bob
Wittbold's boat and was happy to bring back his catch -- 2 trout and the
biggest one was 1lb. 9oz. Tyler Moyher was fishing with his Dad
and they didn't bring anything to weigh. Tyler Serio was fishing
with volunteer Chris Nelson and Tyler S. brought back the most fish.
He had 2 spanish mackerel and a mangrove snapper.
After all the points were
totaled and all the paper work was done -- I am happy to announce
that
